Prose Question explanation


1) Within the piece Robert Jordan can be inferred to be a ?

A.     Robert does fight for what is just however Robert is in no way portrayed as the hero within the passage

B.      Robert is does take part in the fighting however he clearly does not stumble upon it

C.      Robert is obviously taking part in the action

D.     This is correct as Robert is an American volunteer who believes heavily in the Spanish cause

E.       Robert nickname is ingles identifying him as English thus making him not spanish

2)      “Thou hast loved many others.” “(s)ome. But not as thee.”(Hemingway 160) The reader can infer from these lines that.

A.      Robert’s tone points to these women never being as important to him as Maria

B.      This is correct as Robert shows true affection for Maria as his diction clearly states
C.      This relationship can be inferred to be on going as Robert says “not as thee” instead of taking the stance of this being new

D.       Robert has shown a problem connecting with women however he truly does love Maria which is seen within his answer

E.      The elevated diction and the specifying of it being love leading the reader to believe this is not a temporary relationship.


3)        All of the below are true about Maria except?

A.      Maria is innocent however C. is the better answer

B. The war has changed Maria however within Maria’s diction there is an innocence

C.      Maria shows her innocence within her love and thus allowing her to fully love Robert as she wishes to be what she believes is the perfect wife for a man.
